There is always news out there I never get around to sharing. It builds up in my RSS reader or browser bookmarks, so this is my opportunity to start with a clean slate each week.

Some of the news and events that happened this week, but which I didn’t get around to discussing myself:

Loyalty Traveler has information on a new Marriott MegaBonus promotion running from February 1 through April 30 and why it could offer a net cost per night as low as what you’ll find through Priceline or Expedia.

View from the Wing shared some good news on the future of the US Airways credit card. Apparently it will stick around in some form even after Barclays stops issuing new cards.

One Mile at a Time discusses some alternatives to US Airways and United Airlines if you want to book an award ticket on Star Alliance carriers.

Frequent Miler has some updates on Amex Sync offers. I don’t use these much since I tend to shop at mostly local merchants, but they may be useful for some.

Virgin Atlantic has temporarily raised their sign-up offer to provide up to 65,000 miles and sent emails to many people, including me. You may also be able to apply. The break down is (1) 20,000 miles after first purchase; (2) 25,000 miles after spending $2,500 within the first 90 days; (3) an additional 15,000 anniversary miles when you spend $25,000 within the first year; and (4) 5,000 miles when you add two authorized cardholders.

Airport security is a touching experience. Show the TSA your appreciation with one of these $20 T-shirts. As I like to say, $2.50 provides one of the cheapest full body massages anywhere in the world.
