Register for Hyatt’s Endless Possibilities Promotion

I reviewed the new Endless Possibilities promotion from Hyatt Gold Passport in an earlier post. The earning period begins on January 15 and runs through April 30, but registration just began. Make sure you register now since you never know when you might have a couple Hyatt stays at the last minute. Registration closes on March 31, a month before the promotion ends.

Hyatt Endless Possibilities

This promotion offers a twist on past versions, providing you the choice to earn free nights or bonus points. The catch is that free nights can be used at any Category 1-4 hotel — and there are some good ones — but they expire on July 31. Bonus points may not be enough to get you as many free nights at the cheaper properties, but they can be combined with existing points for more valuable awards and do not expire as long as your account remains active.

You must select your earning option when you register. No one wants to hear the old knight say, “He chose… poorly.” So think about how much you plan to stay at Hyatt and what you’re likely to redeem your points or free nights for. I already have six stays and eight nights booked through February (I like to hotel hop), but I don’t know how many more I’ll book through April. I’m sure I’ll get at least 10 nights. I might hit 15. Twenty nights are unlikely.

Choose Free NightsRegistration Link

  • Stay 5 nights, earn 1 free night (Category 1-4)
  • Stay 10 nights, earn 2 free nights
  • Stay 15 nights, earn 3 free nights
  • Stay 20 nights, earn 4 free nights

Choose Bonus PointsRegistration Link

  • Stay 5 nights, earn 5,000 points
  • Stay 10 nights, earn an additional 10,000 points (15,000 total)
  • Stay 15 nights, earn an additional 15,000 points (30,000 total)
  • Stay 20 nights, earn an additional 20,000 points (50,000 total)

With 10 nights likely during this promotion, I could earn either 2 free nights at a Category 1-4 hotel or 15,000 bonus points. A single Free Night award at a Category 4 hotel costs 15,000 points, so free nights seem like the better option.

But I often pay for the cheap hotels to earn my elite status. I am planning to choose the bonus points instead. I can use 12,500 bonus points plus $150 for a Points + Cash award when I take my in-laws to the Andaz Maui this summer — normally $600-800 a night. And the best part is a Points + Cash award earns elite status and can be upgraded. If I plan well and get 15 nights in during this promotion, then I’ll have 30,000 points and can extend the award reservation.

But if you don’t have or plan to earn elite status with Hyatt this year, by all means, choose the free nights. This earning option may work better for some people, especially less frequent guests who won’t earn the larger bonus point awards or those who often stay at less expensive hotels.
