Alaska Airlines has a couple of promotions out that caught my attention recently. The first is a month-long special on flights to Mexico. Each week this month a different destination (or destinations) will go on sale, and first up are Cabo San Lucas and Puerto Vallarta. With round-trip fares starting at just under $400 from Portland to Cabo, it might be worth taking a look. I’m sure Cancun is on the list for a later week, but I don’t know if their new Seattle-Cancun nonstop will be offered at a discount. Tickets are already for sale, though it doesn’t officially start service until November 6.
A more interesting promotion is a tie-in with the Mariners. We won the Super Bowl this year, so the World Series must be next, right?! You can enter a contest through September 14 for a chance at winning MVP elite status with Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan (more about why it’s a great program) plus two tickets to a Mariners game. Though the splash page says something about winning miles, too, I didn’t see that mentioned anywhere in the official rules.
Even if you don’t like baseball, you can still take advantage of a discount code to save 10% off travel to the Mariners’ away games. What? You forgot to buy game tickets? I’m sure Alaska won’t be checking if you decide to do something else while you’re there…
Just use code EC2852 to save 10% on travel to these airports any time between the dates indicated. You must book by September 6, and you must originate from an airport in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska, or British Columbia.
- Los Angeles (LAX)/Long Beach (LGB)/Orange County (SNA) – July 15-22
- Boston (BOS) – August 20-26, 2014
- Los Angeles (LAX)/Long Beach (LGB)/Orange County (SNA) – September 13-20, 2014
And, yes, I can call it “SoCal” because I used to live there — long enough to remember to put “the” before all the freeway names.
