Hidden Gem of the Emerald City: Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan

I gave two presentations at Frequent Traveler University in Seattle. I wasn’t pleased with the first one, on hotel loyalty programs, and will need to make some revisions before I share it later this week. But the talk on Alaska Airlines’ Mileage Plan loyalty program was very well received. Amol was able to step in and answer a few questions regarding award booking, which is not my strength. He also caught this view of the room:

Anyone who was not able to ask their questions is welcome to pose them here, and we’ll do our best to respond. I know that many people had to leave early that afternoon. But I think we had at least a few converts. ;) One reader told me he just moved to Seattle that very day and had Platinum Medallion status with Delta. He’s now considering a switch to Alaska.

I’ve been writing a lot of posts on Alaska Airlines in the past few months to help prepare for this talk. Below are links to those posts, which may expand on ideas that weren’t fully explored in the presentation. You may also find them useful since I tend to create presentations that don’t include a lot of notes.

Finally, you may also find this post on Million Mile Secrets to be helpful in exploring some of your different award options when using Alaska Airlines miles.

I’ll leave you to flip through the presentation! Uploading PowerPoint slides to Slideshare is much easier than I anticipated, so I plan to continue doing this in the future. I plan to give a version of this talk again at the Chicago Seminars in October; any comments or suggestions are welcome.
