Starwood Preferred Guest announced today its new Earn Away, Get Away summer promo, which runs from May 1 through July 31, 2014. Registration is open now and will end on June 30, so sign up even if you’re not yet sure that you’ll have a qualifying stay. The rules of the promotion are pleasantly simple:
- Double points on all qualifying stays
- Triple points on all qualifying stays that include a Sunday night (or Saturday night in the Middle East)
Over 1,000 properties are participating, and in general a qualifying stay is any stay that would normally earn points (e.g., booked with the hotel directly, on SPG.com, or as a Double Up rate on PointsHound). Non-qualifying rates are typically those that are booked through an online travel agency.
The list of non-participating properties includes an unfortunate number of my favorite hotels in the U.S. and abroad, including all six Starwood hotels in the Seattle/Bellevue area. Be sure to check if your desired hotel is participating before you book, but otherwise I think it’s a pretty good promotion. Terms & Conditions.
