This morning I described my experiences using Uber and a few other alternatives to driving your own car. Uber is by far the most expensive means of transportation I use today, but it is still a good value for those times I find it useful.
If you’re one of the few who haven’t signed up for Uber yet, you can use my referral link for $20 in free credit toward your first trip. (I’ll get $20, too.) I should probably refer Megan since she usually just rides along with me and doesn’t have her own account.
But a hat tip to View from the Wing for sharing another $40 free credit that stacks on top, for a total of $60 in free credit to new users. After you sign up and log in, click on “Promotions” at the top of the page, enter code C2E2, and take your first ride by May 31.
If you’ll be coming to Seattle for the Frequent Traveler University, Uber is probably one of the better ways to reach the city from the airport hotels if you want to go out to bars or restaurants after the meetings. (Lightrail is still a good contender but takes a little longer and is less convenient to Capitol Hill.) Flat rates for Uber to downtown are $50 each way, so find a newbie in your group and share a free ride!
One of my favorite bars in Seattle is Needle & Thread, a speakeasy above Tavern Law. But I’m guessing this crowd is probably going to be better off causing a ruckus at Von Trapps.
