What Did I Miss?

Sometimes I like to slip away without telling anyone.

My dad is on a quest to spend his money before I get my grubby hands on it and treated the family to a trip to the Virgin Islands last week. I scheduled a few posts but had almost no Internet access for the better part of ten days. It was a fantastic trip and one that I’ll enjoy reviewing even though there are no miles or points involved. It also meant I missed out on a lot of stuff.

Here’s the most interesting news that I missed, most of which I won’t bother to write my own posts on:

The new Delta award chart was predictable (and largely predicted, by Frequent Miler). Surprise! It still sucks, and the new earning structure just makes it worse.

About the only thing I got excited about was the new Amex credit cards. I don’t have affiliate links for the new Amex EveryDay and Amex EveryDay Preferred cards, but they are worth serious attention and probably a post. It seems Amex is really changing things up lately after relaunching several credit card offers and news from Dan’s Deals that they will be taking a hard line against re-applying for multiple bonuses. (They already penalize existing cardholders who apply for different cards.)

So why didn’t I tell anyone I was leaving? There is a very good chance that I will be taking a full time job in the next few weeks. I’m not planning to shut things down, but this experimental absence has given me a few ideas about how to make sure the blog keeps going strong even when I’m not able to sit on the couch all day in my pajamas.

(The biggest issue, as always, is responding promptly to readers’ questions and comments. If I’ve overlooked yours, feel free to try again.)
