100K Avios Offer Returns for British Airways Visa

After a brief hiatus (about a month), the 100K Avios sign-up offer for the British Airways Visa card from Chase is back — but the annual fee is no longer waived as far as I can tell. This offer is only available on the British Airways website as far as I can tell (HT to View from the Wing).

UPDATE: The offer appears to be dead. Maybe. You can still find it advertised if you go to British Airways’ website with the link at the bottom of this post. But when you click through to apply, the application on Chase’s website doesn’t work. I’ll let you know if I learn of any further changes to this offer.

BA Visa Offer

You’ll need to spend $2,000 in the first three months to get the first 50,000 Avios. Then spend a total of $10,000 over the entire year to get an additional 25,000 Avios. Spend a total of $20,000 and you’ll receive a final 25,000 Avios. And with this card, each dollar spent on most purchases earns 1.25 Avios.

That’s a total of 125,000 Avios for spending $20,000 over the course of the year. To put that in perspective, you can redeem Avios on Alaska Airlines and American Airlines with minimal taxes and fees for domestic trips, including some as low as 4,500 points one-way or just 25,000 points round-trip to Hawaii.

By getting this card now, in February, you also increase your chance of receiving a Travel Together Ticket after spending $30,000 in a calendar year. Use this for travel on a British Airways flight — whether an award ticket or a paid ticket — and your guest will only have to cover the taxes, fees, and fuel surcharge. It’s still not cheap, but it can double the value of your Avios and won’t expire for two years.

It’s not surprising that this great offer is on BA’s website. As I mentioned in another post when it disappeared, the page may move around and break the link every few weeks, but doing a search on BA’s website or on Google usually was enough to find it again. You should never assume that an offer is dead just because it’s not where you last looked.
